The real barrier is not the training ground
The hard part was never the drills, the pitches or even the money in isolation, clubs with far larger budgets than Barcelona's academy operation exist across Europe. The hard part is committing to a single, unbroken footballing philosophy across every age group for two decades, funding a system that will lose nine players for every one it produces, and refusing to compromise that identity when results dip or ownership changes. That is a governance and cultural bet, not a coaching one, and it is why the clubs that manage it, Barcelona and Ajax chief among them, remain the exception rather than the rule.
